Crimean Fuel Crisis Deepens as Authorities Restrict Cash Sales

Occupied Crimea faces a worsening fuel crisis, with officials imposing strict rationing and halting cash sales at petrol stations across the peninsula. Prime Minister Boris Aksyonov announced that fuel will now be issued only via pre-purchased coupons, capped at 20 litres per person, as local authorities move to oversee distribution.

The situation in Sevastopol remains equally precarious. Mayor Mikhail Razvozhayev warned residents against queuing at stations, confirming that incoming fuel shipments are reserved exclusively for emergency and rescue services. This directive follows weeks of official assurances that the supply chain would stabilize, now replaced by an admission that the region must operate under severe restrictions.

Beyond the peninsula, Moscow’s logistical strain is increasingly evident. Ukrainian military experts report that Russian drone and missile production is struggling to maintain stockpiles, with hardware often deployed directly from factory assembly lines. Meanwhile, the Russian corvette Boykiy has been rendered combat-ineffective after a precision drone strike in the Kronstadt naval base. Analysts note that the vessel’s main radar and superstructure sustained catastrophic damage, underscoring the vulnerability of Russian naval assets to low-cost aerial attacks.
