Russian forces breach Kostiantynivka as battlefield lines fracture

Conflict in Kostiantynivka has reached a critical threshold, with Russian troops securing a foothold in the city center. Military commanders on the ground warn that without a decisive disruption of enemy supply lines, the city could fall by the end of summer, as Ukrainian units struggle against mounting pressure.

The tactical situation in Kostiantynivka is deteriorating as Russian forces push across the Kryvyi Torets river. According to frontline officers, the city is effectively split, with defenders fighting to hold the eastern bank after losing ground in the southwest. The presence of the 156th Mechanised Brigade has become a focal point of concern; field reports suggest that inexperienced, newly mobilized personnel are struggling to hold sectors against seasoned Russian advances.

Commanders note that the rate of Russian infiltration currently outpaces defensive attrition, with estimates of enemy combatants inside city limits ranging from 100 to 250. While local commanders maintain that the city remains salvageable, military analyst Kostyantyn Mashovets describes the prospects as highly unfavorable. The Russian advance relies on a pincer movement, and once the river line is fully compromised, the defensive position south of the Yemelianova and Oleksa Tykhoho junction will likely collapse.

Beyond the immediate fighting, Ukraine continues to target critical Russian infrastructure. A long-range strike on the VNIIR Progress plant in Cheboksary—located 1,000 km from the front—demonstrated the vulnerability of Russian military production. Despite heavy anti-drone netting, the facility was struck by an FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile. The plant is vital to the Russian war effort, producing Kometa satellite antennas used in Shahed drones, Iskander missiles, and guided aerial bombs. The successful strike has sparked internal criticism among Russian military observers regarding the efficacy of their own air defense networks.
